When John and I first struck up a conversation after hearing about each other for years, we both had our heads down writing books. Not much has changed in the last 5 years. The subject matter is different but were both still at it. We are loving the daily routine of writing, yoga, more writing, beach swim and yoga. I have to admit it’s pretty cool having grown up kids and time on our hands to develop projects we’re passionate about. But being your own boss means you have to be disciplined and adaptable. John’s way better at pushing the off switch then me. Maybe it’s just an american girl thing. I was brought up to believe that without hard work and perseverance you don’t get results. But at the same time if you’re a go getter you need to cut yourself some slack. It’s a fine balance.
So besides writing up a storm…what’s new in our corner?
My book Yoga for Diabetes, how to manage your diabetes with ayurveda and yoga, is almost ready to be launched. But to get it over the finish line I need your help. This book is the culmination of over 30 years of experience in yoga practice and teaching as well as a how to guide exploring all the things I’ve done to keep my diabetes in check. Why is this book relevant to you? You might not be diabetic but you might know someone who is. I never thought it could happen to me but it did. Since my diagnosis I’ve become an advocate for diabetes and realise it’s important to know the signs and symptoms.
The book is a motivational guide to inspire anyone with any type of diabetes to learn simple, effective techniques to get their blood sugar under control. I absolutely believe that yoga can help anyone. I love dispelling the myth that yoga is just for flexible people or people who are spiritual. If you can breathe you can do yoga. That’s the plain truth!
And this is the first yoga book written by a diabetic for diabetics. The book is beautiful to look at, inspiring, and gives solid tools for reducing stress, managing blood sugar levels and increasing insulin sensitivity.

So besides my super duper book launch…
2016 is already shaping up to be super fruitful. We’re heading to Japan on February 25 to teach in Kashima, Shizuoka, Osaka and Tokyo for 3 weeks. It’s been 6 years since I was there and I’m super excited to reconnect with Japanese friends and students and to introduce John to a place that has touched my heart deeply. He keeps sharing that he’s worried that once he gets there he’ll never want to leave. I’m smiling all over about that one. We’re also heading to Europe for our annual workshop tour. We are planning a 4 day mini retreat at the end of June so if your keen to know more send me an email.
But the big news is ( drumroll)…
We’ve launched a new look for our website. Designed by Hey Yogi founder Nora Wendel we feel it expresses our vision and deep love of yoga and self knowledge in an easy to understand format. We’ve been wanting to merge our websites for years and it’s finally happened. If you haven’t already head on over and check it out.
