We’re back from Sadhu Camp!

What does it mean to take time out for yourself?

If you’re a yoga teacher or have a passion for taking yoga deeper then you know that taking a break and deepening your practice is super important. Last week we held our first Sadhu Camp in the hinterland of Byron Shire. The retreat was by invitation only and gathered together friends who’d either attended a retreat, an immersion or 6 week Teacher Training with us. We were so moved by everyones commitment to explore the deeper practices that इष्टम् ISHTAM offers. Beginning at dawn with advanced pranayamas and kriya techniques, John illuminated us with teachings texts by Shankara and Tirumular. And after breakfast I offered creative exercises designed to prepare us to move into a period of Mouna ( silence).  We practiced the Ishta Mala sequence at sunset, dined on simple Kitcheree, and closed each night with Kirtan. Two of the nights we were joined by special guests Caroline Cowley, Oscar Sellerach and Avishai. At the close of the course I asked each person to share one word to describe इष्टम् ISHTAM. Here’s the result…

And keep scrolling down to see the behind the scenes bloopers too!
